The Defernse Sector at Leidos is currently looking for a Technical Writer at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. The Technical Writer is responsible for writing, editing, proofreading, and providing writing support for internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

Develops content for various communication delivery vehicles with proficiency with XML tagging/editing, and has experience with MIL STD 40051. Candidate has the experience to breakdown complex technical data into easy-to-follow procedures and can communicate these requirements to graphics design. The technical writer will have the ability to read and understand technical reports like LORA, FMECA, PPL, BOM, and can communicate findings into MAC and RPSTL documentation. The Technical Writer can evaluate and edit content to determine appropriate syntax, style, grammatical usage and tone for effective communication delivery and reception that aligns with MIL-standard objectives.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years relevant experience with tecnical writing. Additional directly related experience or military MOS experience can be substituted for degree requirements.
  • Must have active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Proficiency with XML tagging/editing.
  • Experience with MIL STD 40051.
  • The ability to distill complex technical data into easy-to-follow procedures.
  • Ability to read and understand technical reports like LORA, FMECA, PPL, BOM, etc.

Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to travel up to 25% (CONUS/OCONUS)
  • Must be able to travel OCONUS when required.
