Description

Under the direct supervision of the Housekeeping and Laundry Supervisor, the Laundry Staff is responsible for laundering facility linens and residents’ clothing in accordance with established sanitary procedures and facility policies.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collect, launder, and distribute facility linens and resident garments in accordance with established procedures.
  • Properly operate and maintain laundry equipment; keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
  • Follow all infection control, health and safety, and hazardous materials policies.
  • Attend required orientation and in-service training in compliance with state requirements.
  • Understand, comply with, and promote residents’ rights.
  • Adhere to established work and cleaning schedules; coordinate daily laundry services with other departments.
  • Monitor and report supply needs to the supervisor.
  • Participate in training, educational activities, and staff meetings; assist with orienting and training other staff as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Requirements

  • Must be able to interact positively with residents, families, and regulatory agencies, and work collaboratively with employees at all levels.
  • Must be able to maintain consistent attendance and be willing to work long or irregular hours, often under pressure.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions necessary to perform job duties effectively.
  • Must comply with all local health regulations and successfully complete a post-offer health assessment.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Physical and Sensory Requirements (with or without the use of mechanical devices):
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and community agencies.
  • Ability to perform physical activities such as walking, reaching, bending, stretching, pulling, and lifting.
  • Adequate fine and gross motor coordination to carry out required tasks.

Work Environment:

  • Long-term care facility setting.
  • Exposure to residents with varying levels of care needs.
  • May include evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
