Solid Waste Technician

General Definition and Conditions of Work:

• Physically demanding work involving the collection of solid waste and recycling materials from residential and commercial establishments.
• Perform skilled and unskilled heavy manual work, while independently applying Town code and safety considerations in the completion of assigned duties.

Education, Experience and Licenses:

• Completion of a standard high school course, or equivalent GED program.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in an entry level, manual labor position.
• Any combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Virginia Pesticide Applicator License, Virginia Work Area Protection Certification, OSHA 10 Certification, Virginia Flagging Certification, or the ability to obtain certifications within a year.
• Valid driver's license.
