JOB SUMMARY

 

Scale Clerk I supports winery shipping, receiving, and production logistics by accurately weighing, documenting, and processing inbound and outbound deliveries. This role maintains regulatory compliance, ensures accurate records, and coordinates the movement of grapes, bulk wine, and related materials. The position works closely with the Bulk Wine Shipping and Receiving Coordinator and operational teams.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  • Operate truck scales and weighing equipment to process grapes, bulk wine, juice, and related materials.
  • Prepare and maintain weighmaster certificates, weight tickets, and shipping/receiving documentation.
  • Process inbound and outbound truck transactions and verify load accuracy and supporting documents.
  • Enter and maintain data in scale systems, JDE, and related business applications, including work order creation and distribution.
  • Coordinate truck movements and deliveries with Cellar Operations, Winemaking, and Logistics teams.
  • Communicate receiving locations, routing instructions, and operational information to drivers and employees.
  • Maintain organized records and files related to shipping, receiving, and production activities.
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support company sustainability initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including data entry and record management.
  • Strong communication, math, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and varying shifts, especially during harvest.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Prior experience in logistics, shipping and receiving, manufacturing, agriculture, food and beverage production, or winery operations.
  • Experience using computerized scale systems or inventory/ERP software.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

  • Frequently required to sit, speak, hear, and use a computer.
  • Frequent walking and movement throughout operational areas.
  • Occasional bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

  • Work is performed in both office and production environments.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, wet or slippery surfaces, noise, moving equipment, and other winery production conditions.
  • Extended hours, overtime, weekend work, and shift flexibility may be required, especially during harvest periods.

 

COMPENSATION

 

  • Hourly Pay Range Posted: $16.50 - $21.92/hr.
  • Actual compensation will be based on factors such as experience; skills, knowledge, and abilities; education, and other position-related factors.
