Western Home Communities is seeking an experienced, organized, and compassionate RN leader to join our team as a Nurse Mentor at our Ackley location. In this unique role, you'll lead with heart and excellence, empowering staff, supporting residents, and setting the standard for high-quality, person-centered care. This position will be a weekend package position consisting of:
  • Fri/Sat/Sun 8 hour shifts, working any shift preferred (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) OR
  • Sat/Sun 12 hour shifts, working any shift preferred

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide direct resident care while mentoring and supporting all levels of care staff

  • Identify and manage infection control practices; educate team members on proper precautions

  • Oversee and participate in MDS processes — including scheduling and transmitting assessments

  • Supervise and guide direct care staff to ensure the highest standards of care are met

  • Administer medications, treatments, and physician-ordered care with precision and accountability

  • Communicate effectively with physicians, supervisors, and family members regarding resident needs and progress

  • Foster a team-oriented, compassionate, and professional environment

What You’ll Bring:

  • Graduate of a state board-approved Registered Nurse (RN) program

  • Current Iowa RN license in good standing

  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills

  • Preferred: Familiarity with MDS process

  • Preferred: Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (or willingness to obtain)

  • Completion of the Iowa mandatory supervisory course (or willingness to complete within 6 months)

  • Current CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)

  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed
