Job Description:
The Portfolio Manager is a strategic leader responsible for championing a culture of continuous improvement across the Consumer organization. This role advances Operational Excellence (OpEx) principles, strengthens associate feedback channels, and drives meaningful engagement in enterprise idea‑management processes. Serving as a leader in the Consumer OpEx portfolio, the Portfolio Manager ensures high‑quality program routines, transparent reporting, strong governance, and consistent execution across all Consumer lines of business. The successful candidate brings strong business acumen, sound judgment, and the ability to influence effectively at all levels of the organization.
The Consumer Banking Initiative Portfolio Manager Role Responsibilities include:
Lead the Consumer OpEx Idea Management Process
Provide strategic leadership for the Consumer idea‑management process, ensuring broad organizational awareness, engagement, and alignment with business priorities.
Oversee a network of Consumer council members, ensuring adequate coverage, capability, and continuity across all segments.
Monitor and manage the pipeline of improvement opportunities to enable timely evaluation, prioritization, and disposition.
Coordinate cross‑LOB submissions and ensure ideas are aligned with appropriate business ownership.
Represent the Consumer organization in enterprise routines, ensuring completion of required deliverables and alignment with cross‑functional initiatives.
Partner with Operational Excellence teams to deliver updates to Consumer leadership, highlight business impact, and recognize employees contributing to improvement efforts.
Engage and Enable Network of OpEx Program Champions
Lead onboarding and training for new program council members, ensuring they have the knowledge and resources needed for effective execution.
Provide ongoing coaching and strategic guidance to strengthen consistency and effectiveness across the council network.
Establish and manage routines to share updates, address questions, cascade program information, and review performance metrics.
Communicate upcoming or implemented system, tool, or process enhancements to ensure readiness and adoption.
Represent Consumer Interests and Provide Strategic Input
Participate in enterprise forums to stay current on enhancements to tools, processes, and governance.
Provide Consumer LOB insights to shape program evolution, tool enhancements, and process improvements.
Gather and synthesize feedback from council members and Consumer partners to inform enterprise teams and influence future enhancements.
Responsibilities:
Manages and drives success around line of business performance in key operational and high risk metrics through detailed routines, initiatives, and technology improvements
Serves as a primary contact to executive leadership and key partners to communicate change initiatives and gain support for the execution of projects and programs
Monitors process or key metric performance to identify issues and proactively offers solutions to mitigate risk
Hosts and actively participates in critical line of business meetings to provide regular updates on change initiatives and performance requirements and influences others to help drive success
Manages strategies and controls to address policy, technology, environmental, and operational gaps
Acts as a subject matter expert for all line of business products to help design procedures, policies, or career progression models that will enhance the associate and client experience
Leads people that help support cross functional and high impact strategic initiatives, either directly or through dotted line engagement
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of program management and/or service delivery experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with the ability to influence, negotiate, persuade and resolve conflict at all levels
Highly effective written and verbal communicatorÂ
Highly proficient in PowerPoint and Executive PresentationÂ
Strong organizational skills with an ability to perform well under pressure and deadlinesÂ
Demonstrate ability to drive execution of complex change requirements and accept accountability for tasks
