Description 

National Network Services (NNS) is seeking an experienced LV Structured Cabling Lead Technician to oversee field operations, mentor technicians, and ensure successful project execution. You will be responsible for the overall completion of assigned projects while maintaining National Network Services' standards for safety, quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction. 

This role requires strong technical expertise in structured cabling systems, leadership experience, project planning capabilities, and the ability to mentor Level I and Level II technicians. The successful candidate will serve as the primary field leader, coordinating crews, managing project execution, and communicating with customers and project management teams throughout the project lifecycle.

General Requirements 

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass background checks and drug screening if required 
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly 
  • Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and scaffolding
  • Comfortable working in ceilings, crawl spaces, and construction environments  
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods 
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good communication and customer service skills  
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
  • Reliable, punctual, and organized  
  • Willingness to travel to job sites and occasionally work overtime as project schedules require

 

What You’ll Do 

Leadership & Project Execution 

  • Lead field crews and oversee daily project activities 
  • Assign work tasks and manage technician productivity 
  • Mentor and train Level I and Level II Technicians 
  • Monitor project progress and adjust staffing or schedules as necessary 
  • Maintain project safety, quality, and production standards 
  • Communicate effectively with customers, project managers, and field personnel 
  • Manage customer expectations through professional verbal and written communication 

Structured Cabling Systems 

  • Install, terminate, splice, test, certify, and troubleshoot: 
    • Copper Cabling Systems 
    • Fiber Optic Cabling Systems 
  • Utilize testing and certification equipment to verify system performance 
  • Interpret and implement structured cabling standards and best practices 
  • Identify and resolve installation issues in the field 

Infrastructure & Pathway Construction 

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications 
  • Layout and install: 
    • Cable pathways 
    • Ladder rack systems 
    • J-Hooks 
    • Cable tray systems 
    • Equipment racks 
    • Backboards 
    • Sleeves and penetrations 
  • Identify fire-rated assemblies and ensure proper firestopping practices 
  • Understand applicable codes and standards, including: 
    • Plenum vs. PVC cable requirements 
    • ISP/OSP entrance facilities 
    • Grounding and lightning protection requirements 

Estimating & Planning 

  • Conduct project site surveys and walkthroughs 
  • Develop scopes of work, assumptions, and material lists for projects up to approximately $50,000 
  • Review project budgets, labor estimates, and schedules 
  • Develop project execution plans, including: 
    • Daily and weekly production goals 
    • Crew assignments 
    • Tool requirements 
    • Safety plans 
  • Track crew performance against budget and schedule targets 

Customer Service 

  • Serve as the primary field representative for assigned projects 
  • Maintain positive customer relationships throughout project execution 
  • Address customer concerns and provide project updates as needed 

 

What You’ll Bring 

  • Demonstrated competency in all Level I and Level II Technician responsibilities 
  • Extensive experience in structured cabling installation within commercial construction environments 
  • Strong knowledge of copper and fiber optic systems, including installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting 
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications 
  • Experience leading crews and coordinating field operations 
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Wyoming Low Voltage License 
  • BICSI certifications or other structured cabling industry certifications 
  • Experience with large-scale commercial, education, healthcare, industrial, or data center projects 
  • Fiber optic splicing and certification experience
