About the Role:

The Cashier role within Culinary & Catering department at Applewood Village is pivotal in ensuring smooth and efficient financial transactions at the point of service. This position requires handling payments, providing accurate change, and maintaining detailed records of all transactions to support the facility's operational integrity. The role also involves delivering exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, and staff, fostering a welcoming and professional environment. Additionally, the Cashier contributes to maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in the work area, supporting overall facility hygiene standards. Ultimately, this position ensures that all monetary exchanges are conducted accurately and efficiently, supporting the financial and operational goals of the healthcare facility.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience in cashiering or handling cash transactions.
• Basic math skills and ability to operate a cash register or point-of-sale system.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a healthcare or social assistance environment.
• Familiarity with healthcare billing and insurance payment processes.
• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting.
• Basic knowledge of janitorial and sanitation practices.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities:

• Operate cash registers to process payments accurately and efficiently, including cash, credit, and insurance transactions.
• Provide courteous and professional customer service to patients, visitors, and staff, addressing inquiries and resolving payment-related issues.
• Maintain accurate records of all transactions and prepare daily cash reports for reconciliation.
• Perform routine janitorial duties to ensure the cashier station and surrounding areas are clean and organized.
• Adhere to all healthcare facility policies and procedures, including confidentiality and security protocols related to financial transactions.
• Work a flexible schedule to accommodate the operational hours of the healthcare facility, including weekends and holidays as needed.

The required skills such as cashiering and operating a cash register are essential for accurately processing payments and managing financial transactions on a daily basis. Customer service skills are utilized continuously to interact with patients and visitors, ensuring a positive experience and addressing any concerns promptly.
