Position Summary.
The Secondary Office Administrative Assistant serves as a key operational and hospitality resource within the Secondary School Office. This role provides administrative, clerical, and student support services while helping maintain a welcoming, organized, and Christ-centered environment for students, families, staff, and visitors.
The Administrative Assistant supports daily school operations through attendance management, communications coordination, student records support, front office administration, and athletic department assistance. This role requires strong organizational skills, professionalism, confidentiality, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced school environment.
Key Responsibilities.
Front Office & Reception
- Serve as the primary point of contact for students, parents, visitors, and incoming communications.
- Create a welcoming, professional, and Christ-centered atmosphere within the Secondary Office.
- Manage front desk operations, including:
- Visitor check-in/check-out
- Phone and email communications
- General office support functions
- Support daily office organization and operational flow.
Attendance & Student Records
- Accurately record, monitor, and maintain daily student attendance records and related documentation.
- Process attendance changes, early dismissals, and absence communications in accordance with school procedures.
- Maintain accurate student information within RenWeb/FACTS and other school systems.
- Assist with student records management, reporting, and documentation.
Communication & Coordination
- Prepare and distribute school announcements, schedules, and operational communications.
- Coordinate information flow between administration, faculty, students, and families.
- Assist with school-wide communication efforts and administrative correspondence.
Administrative Support
- Provide administrative support to the Secondary Principal and school leadership.
- Assist with reports, mailings, filing, data entry, copying, and document preparation.
- Support coordination of meetings, events, and school activities as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality of student, family, and personnel information.
Student Health & Safety Support
- Provide basic first aid support and administer student medications in accordance with school policies and procedures.
- Maintain appropriate health documentation and communicate student health concerns to parents/guardians as needed.
- Support a safe, organized, and student-focused environment.
Mission Integration
- Model Christ-centered values in all interactions with students, families, staff, and visitors.
- Support the mission, culture, and spiritual environment of Lenawee Christian School.
- Demonstrate professionalism, servant leadership, and a commitment to excellence.
Qualifications.
Christian Faith:
- Profess and demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
- Adherence to Christian principles and values in both personal and professional life.
- Live a Christ-centered life and have a strong commitment to excellence.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred.
- Prior experience in school administration, office administration, or customer service strongly preferred.
- Experience with RenWeb/FACTS or similar student information systems preferred.
Certifications & Physical Requirements:
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or ability to obtain).
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and actively move throughout the workday.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general office systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-interaction environment.
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
EMPLOYMENT TERMS.
- This position is classified as full-time, hourly, non-exempt and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws.
- Employees are required to accurately record all hours worked.
- Work schedule follows the academic calendar and regular Secondary School office hours, with occasional additional hours for school events or operational needs.
- Regular, reliable, and on-site attendance is required.
- Employment is at-will and contingent upon successful completion of all pre-employment requirements, including background screening and adherence to the ministry’s Statement of Faith and Lifestyle Commitment.
