SRNL is looking for a Glass Scientist who possesses expertise in glass chemistry and the characterization of vitreous materials, with a strong understanding of chemical durability mechanisms and processing–property relationships at both the macro- and microscale levels. 

This individual will contribute to the growth of a research platform focused on the development of advanced vitreous materials and processing technologies, driving innovation to deliver breakthrough performance capabilities that address a broad spectrum of industrial and U.S. government needs.

The candidate will be responsible for the safe execution, documentation, and interpretation of laboratory research and applied science experiments related to glass and hazardous material processing. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in a wide range of experimental and analytical characterization techniques, including Raman spectroscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

Working collaboratively with other SRNL researchers, the candidate will support the development of competitive research proposals in response to DOE and other funding opportunities.
