Job Title: Group Leader

Reports to: Production Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Schedule: 4:00am – 2:30pm; Monday – Thursday. Extended hours may be required to support business needs


Position Summary

Under direction of the Production Manager, Associate is responsible for executing established customer quality, production and delivery goals with little to no scrap or rework. Associate is also responsible for ensuring all associates follow current Manufacturing Work Instructions located at their workstation.

 

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Plan staffing needs, ensure production associates are fully trained and take disciplinary action when needed to correct performance issues.
  • Ensure safety, quality, delivery, and other organizational policies and guidelines are adhered to.
  • Oversee Kaizen activity and report results to Senior Management. 
  • Coordinate all production requirements and delivery schedules with Team Leaders.
  • Ensure all production results are recorded including but not limited to OEE, scrap and attendance data.
  • Schedule production output according to customer requirements using the Plexus JRP system.
  • Report all quality issues to Quality Leadership and assist with resolution. 
  • Oversee production associate training and maintain training matrix. 
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by Management. 
  • Adhere to and maintain the following policies, procedures and guidelines:
    • Safety
    • Quality
    • ISO 9000 and 14001
    • Associate Handbook
    • 5-S

 



Education, prior work experience and specialized skills and knowledge:

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3 years Team Leader experience within the desired field is preferred.
  • Able to follow and execute detailed instructions.
  • Must have a strong understanding of Plexus system (JRP, Scrap, and Inventory Movement).
  • Able to work overtime and/or travel to customer, possibly with short notice.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment while motivating a team of associates to consistently produce quality product.
  • Proficient communication and organizational skills.
  • Successful completion of role-specific testing.

  • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be subject to a significant amount of standing, walking, pushing and/or lifting up to 50 lbs., repetitive motion, twisting, bending and possible exposure to high noise levels (protection is provided).
  • Work Environment: This job is performed in an open manufacturing and office environment.
  • OJT Requirements: New Hire Orientation.

 This position works in a production environment. The position will report directly to the Production Manager and will have daily interaction with other team members.
