Position Summary

The Medical Office SpecialistĀ (MOS)Ā is responsible forĀ front desk coverage for the medical practice which includesĀ registration,Ā check-in,Ā collecting co-pays,Ā scheduling appointments, billing patients, andĀ scanning records into EMR, reports, and correspondence.Ā The MOS possesses medical terminology knowledge, organization and communication skills, ability to adapt to flexible work schedules and frequent interruptions, and professional appearance, all while maintaining a calm disposition, problem solving, and decision-making skills. Reliable, tactful, honest and discreetĀ inĀ maintaining confidentiality at all times.Ā  Must be able to carry out specific assignments to successful conclusion.Ā Ā Ā

  • High School Diploma or equivalent requiredĀ 
  • Completion of an accreditedĀ Medical Office Assistant/Specialist program or Medical Assistant program preferredĀ

  • Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year experience as a Medical AssistantĀ or Medical Office Specialist, preferred.Ā 
  • Familiarity with medical terminology requiredĀ 
  • Experience with patient check-in and check-out process (according to clinic protocol)Ā

  • General medical office proceduresĀ 
  • Understand end of day cash balancing and charge reconciliation process (according to clinic protocol)Ā

  • Proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems, such as Microsoft OfficeĀ 
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skillsĀ
