Senior Technical Advisor / Lead Operations Support Specialist

COMPA Industries is searching for qualified candidates for a Senior Technical Advisor / Lead Operations Support Specialist position supporting Site Services at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, South Carolina.

Pay: $120–$130/hr
Location: Aiken, SC / Savannah River Site

Mandatory Experience Requirement – Read Before Applying

  • This is a senior-level operations advisory and mentoring role requiring deep technical knowledge, extensive facility operations support experience, and proven leadership within Operations organizations.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of thirty (30) years of experience in facility operations support and at least twenty (20) years of experience in management roles in Operations organizations. Candidates must also bring comprehensive knowledge of Site Services scope, fire protection, LOTO, Conduct of Operations, Conduct of Maintenance, DOE / NNSA requirements, Hazardous Energy Control, HPI Tool use, and fire protection requirements in the DOE environment.
  • Applicants who do not meet the required operations support and operations management experience requirements will not be considered.

Impact

  • As a Senior Technical Advisor / Lead Operations Support Specialist, you will provide high-level technical, conduct of operations, and conduct of maintenance support to Site Services. This role directly supports safe, compliant, and effective operations by advising management, mentoring junior and mid-level personnel, strengthening operational performance, and helping accelerate the development of newer staff.
  • You will serve as a highly experienced subject matter expert supporting Site Services Infrastructure and Functional Maintenance, providing independent oversight, technical guidance, and practical recommendations that improve safety, efficiency, accountability, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide technical and conduct of operations support to Site Services.
  • Conduct independent oversight for Operations, Maintenance, activities, and projects, specifically for Site Services Infrastructure and Functional Maintenance.
  • Advise and assist junior and mid-level Site Services personnel, Site Services Operations, First Line Managers, Leads, Mechanics, and the Site Services management team.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in Conduct of Operations and Conduct of Maintenance.
  • Participate in reviews of projects and programmatic documentation.
  • Make recommendations and assist staff in meeting objectives while supporting technical excellence and cost effectiveness.
  • Share technical and conduct of operations knowledge with newer staff to accelerate learning, qualification, and onboarding.
  • Provide recommendations on methods to improve and accelerate onboarding of newer personnel.
  • Plan, develop, implement, and administer broad or unique programmatic, technical, or administrative functions in direct or indirect support of operations.
  • Provide guidance, work direction, oversight, and leadership to functional work groups, sections, or units in an operations or operations support capacity.
  • Act in a lead capacity and may direct the work of both exempt and nonexempt employees in a non-supervisory capacity.
  • Perform complex, advanced, and diverse functions in support of assigned operations areas, departments, sections, units, or work groups.
  • Establish goals to meet assigned objectives and provide centralized control of programs or processes supporting operations.
  • Interpret and communicate programmatic, technical, and process changes to operations personnel.
  • Monitor and assess operations-related evolutions in facility systems or equipment.
  • Support safe and efficient operation of facility systems and equipment.
  • Perform periodic reviews and assessments to ensure facility systems are operating properly and maintained within required limits.
  • Maintain awareness of scheduled or anticipated work evolutions and other operations support activities that could impact facility operations.
  • Identify positive and adverse trends in operations and operations support performance measures.
  • Determine causal factors and recommend actions to mitigate adverse trends and enhance positive trends.
  • Prepare and/or review facility work packages and related work control processes.
  • Review and communicate new and revised technical and operations procedures, bulletins, and required reading to operators and operations support personnel.
  • Conduct training for operations personnel on new systems and equipment and evaluate performance.
  • Function in contingency coordinator roles in support of operations.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to management on work group performance, training, discipline, promotion, and demotion as needed.
  • May provide relief for or represent the next immediate level of management.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance.
  • Candidate must meet one of the following education and experience combinations:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and 12 years of relevant experience; or
    Associate degree in a technical discipline and 16 years of relevant experience; or
    High School Diploma and 20 years of relevant experience.
  • Candidate shall have a minimum of thirty (30) years of experience in facility operations support.
  • Candidate must have a minimum of twenty (20) years of experience in management roles in Operations organizations.
  • Candidate must have a comprehensive level of knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the assigned functional area, including specific knowledge of a facility, area, or location supported, where appropriate.
  • Candidate must have thorough knowledge and understanding of all pertinent policies, practices, procedures, DOE orders, and regulatory statutes that impact the supported function or facility.
  • Candidate must have knowledge of Site Services scope, fire protection, LOTO, Conduct of Operations, and Conduct of Maintenance.
  • Candidate must have knowledge of Conduct of Operations related procedures and requirements in the DOE environment.
  • Candidate must have working knowledge of DOE / NNSA orders, procedures, and requirements.
  • Candidate must have working knowledge of Hazardous Energy Control and HPI Tool use.
  • Candidate must have working knowledge of fire protection requirements in the DOE environment.
  • Candidate must demonstrate strong mentoring and coaching capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance, L or Q, within the past two (2) years are preferred.
  • Candidates with previous SRS experience are preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Department of Energy Orders and Regulations, relative to the technical and operations support required of DOE facilities and Site Services scope, is preferred.
  • Candidates with fire protection knowledge in DOE facilities are preferred.

Additional Details

  • Work Location: Onsite at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, South Carolina.
  • Pay Range: $120–$130 per hour.
  • Schedule: A 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules, including 5/8s, 4/10s, and 9/80s. Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday includes a 30-minute lunch. Overtime may be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be used at the discretion of the Manager. The position may be expected to support backshift on occasion.
  • Security: DOE “Q” clearance required. Subcontractor must have an active eFOCI registration and approved Facility Level Clearance with DOE / NNSA.
  • Travel: No travel requirement identified. Travel cannot take place unless approved by procurement via a fully funded requisition and added to the Task Order Authorization.
