What You'll Do

POSITION SUMMARY

Develops, implements, and oversees comprehensive security, safety, and risk management programs across Spokane Tribe Resort & Casino operations. This position protects guests, team members, assets, and property while maintaining regulatory compliance and upholding the highest standards of guest service. The Director leads a multi-disciplinary team and collaborates across departments to create a safe, secure environment that enhances the guest experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

  • Promote and support a culture of excellence at Spokane Tribe Resort & Casino by modeling STRC values, delivering exceptional guest service, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ethics.
  • Provide exceptional guest service throughout all interactions.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable gaming regulations, internal controls, and departmental policies, including requirements of the Gaming Commission and applicable state and federal authorities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive security protocols and standard operating procedures governing access control, patrol operations, incident response, and property perimeter security.
  • Direct day-to-day security operations for gaming floors, cash handling areas, entry/exit points, and property perimeters; oversee security technology, including access control, alarm systems, and security communications.
  • Direct investigations related to criminal activity, policy violations, and regulatory compliance issues; oversee evidence handling and required documentation.
  • Serve as liaison with the Spokane Tribal Gaming Commission, law enforcement, and applicable local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate operational, financial, and reputational risks; conduct regular risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and implement crisis management and business continuity plans; coordinate with the General Manager, insurance carriers, and legal counsel on premises liability and guest incident matters.
  • Develop and enforce property-wide safety procedures, ensure OSHA compliance, and implement injury prevention programs; investigate guest and team member incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead the property emergency response team; coordinate and drill emergency response plans, including evacuation, active shooter, and natural disaster preparedness; maintain safety equipment, including AEDs and first aid stations.
  • Hire, train, schedule, and manage performance of security personnel; mentor and develop the departmental supervisory team, manage the departmental budget, implement performance metrics, and participate in STRC leadership meetings and strategic planning.
  • Demonstrate dependability and reliability by maintaining regular, punctual attendance and consistently fulfilling assigned shifts and responsibilities.
  • Create, maintain, and facilitate a positive and safe work environment; promote healthy team member relations and report concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • What You'll Bring

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Extensive casino security senior management experience may be considered in lieu of the education requirement.
    • Minimum eight (8) years of progressive security and safety management experience, including at least five (5) years in a leadership role. Casino experience preferred.
    • Law enforcement, military, or comparable senior security management background highly desirable.
    • Willing and available to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and special events. (standard)
    • Must be available to respond to emergency situations 24/7.

    • Strong background in investigations and evidence handling; knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety programs.
    • Understanding of financial controls and cash handling procedures.
    • Exceptional leadership ability with proven experience managing large, diverse teams.
    • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and project management skills.
    • Ability to remain calm and decisive during crises and high-pressure situations, including de-escalation of potentially volatile situations

    Regulatory & Compliance Responsibilities

    Obtain and maintain a valid gaming license with the Spokane Tribal Gaming Commission.
