Summit County Public Health is seeking an Accountant to work full-time (35 hours per week) , Monday through Friday, in our Fiscal Department. This impactful role delivers comprehensive day-to-day accounting, budget management, and grant administration while strictly ensuring regulatory compliance and timely financial reporting. Responsibilities include managing accounts payable/receivable, balancing ledgers, compiling reports, and collaborating across departments to represent fiscal operations. Success in this position requires proficiency in government accounting principles and software, and strong analytical and administrative capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver daily accounting services, process invoices and vouchers within 5 business days, balance accounts weekly/monthly, and post journal entries to internal ledgers.
- Oversee complex budget accounts, assist with financial forecasting, and execute budget appropriation and transfer documents.
- Manage all fiscal grant operations-including cost controls and spending projections-while ensuring 100% strict adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
- Compile and submit bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports to management, funders, and partners, reconciling all account balances by the 15th of each month.
- Assist with accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll processing, and verification of transmittal reports from external agencies.
- Represent the Fiscal Department in meetings with program staff or subgrantees, meet quarterly with grant teams, and step in independently during the Fiscal Officer's absence.
- Complete general office tasks including data entry, filing, correspondence, answering phones, and responding promptly to information requests.
- Apply established government accounting principles, rules, and laws governing fiscal operations.
- Utilize Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Google Workspace to gather, collate, classify, and accurately maintain financial data.
- Demonstrate strong organizational, problem-solving, and written/verbal communication skills while exercising independent judgment.
- Maintain positive working relationships within the agency, county, and partner staff.

Compensation & Total Rewards
This is a full-time position with a standard 35-hour work week.
- Compensation: $50,523.20 annually (equivalent to $27.76 per hour working 35 hours per week).

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required.
- A minimum of five years' related work experience.
- Valid Ohio driver's license and insured vehicle.
