Position Overview

CARIAN is seeking a Project Controls Analyst to support large-scale utility capital programs by providing strong cost control, forecasting, and reporting capabilities. This role is highly analytical and execution-focused, supporting multiple Project Managers simultaneously and ensuring financial, schedule, and project data remain accurate, integrated, and decision-ready.

The Project Controls Analyst plays a critical role in maintaining financial discipline, schedule alignment, and reporting integrity across active programs. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in data-driven environments and enjoys being the backbone of strong project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support 5–6 Project Managers concurrently across projects in various phases of design and construction.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal and external cost reports, cash flows, and forecasts.

  • Provide accurate and timely updates to cost reports and project forecasts.

  • Perform quality checks and inspections on all project controls deliverables.

  • Compare project schedules to financial data to ensure alignment with project timelines.

  • Integrate schedule data and other project data sources in Excel using formulas, pivot tables, macros, and related tools.

  • Analyze project controls reports, present findings, and provide recommendations to project controls leadership.

  • Track budgets against Purchase Orders and Subcontracts.

  • Review upstream (prime contract) and downstream (PO and subcontract) change orders for accuracy and alignment.

  • Manage and integrate data across multiple programs.

  • Serve as a technical point of contact for APMs, PMs, Lead Engineers, and Construction staff.

  • Support continuous improvement of project controls processes and reporting quality.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of program delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field from an accredited program.

  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in project controls, cost controls, project finance, or related roles.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and make sound, timely decisions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel capabilities strongly preferred.

  • Experience with SAP preferred.

  • Ability to travel as required; valid driver’s license required.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder.
