As a Special Education Paraprofessional at New Story Schools, you’ll support students with developmental and learning differences in building confidence, independence, and essential life skills. You’ll assist teachers in the classroom, help students stay engaged in their learning, and provide guidance that fosters both academic and social growth.

What You'll Need

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Passion for supporting students with learning, emotional, or behavioral differences

  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and encouraging in all situations

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Basic computer proficiency with tools like Word, Excel, or Google Docs

What You'll Do

  • Support students with academics, social interactions, and daily living skills

  • Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and classroom activities

  • Observe, document, and report student progress and behavior

  • Reinforce individualized education and behavior support plans

  • Use positive behavior strategies and de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe, supportive classroom
