Project Manager (Construction)

CEG Solutions (CEG) is an innovative and energy services company (ESCO) headquartered just outside of Washington, DC. We initiate, develop, finance, manage, and implement comprehensive, turnkey energy solutions that include a wide range of energy & water efficiency retrofits, operational efficiency improvements, and onsite renewable energy generation measures. We are well-positioned for further expansion and future market leadership in this growing industry.

Our clients include NASA, the Navy, the Army, and the Office of Personnel Management, as well as private building owners and state entities. We hold contracts with the U.S. Department of Energy, Army Corps of Engineers, and numerous states and that allow us to perform projects that improve energy efficiency, water conservation, and renewable energy usage within the federal and state government. A few key factors define our organizational culture and our work products:

Our commitment to improving the world for future generations and our passion for innovative, high-impact solutions keep us motivated. We strive to hire the best, brightest, and most-dedicated professionals from a wide variety of backgrounds to create a well-rounded team with complementary skills and perspectives.

We're looking for a technically sharp, field-savvy MEP Project Manager to lead complex energy retrofit and performance contract projects from construction kickoff through commissioning and handoff. If you've walked mechanical rooms, collaborated with controls contractors, and taken pride in delivering a building that actually performs to spec — this role was written for you.

This is not a desk job. You'll manage multi-discipline subcontractor trades teams, own the schedule and budget, drive commissioning, and build lasting relationships with facility owners and operators who are counting on the performance guarantees you put your name on.

What You'll Own | Project Delivery:

  • Lead end-to-end implementation of Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) to include: HVAC retrofits, controls upgrades, central plant improvements, electrical, and mechanical/plumbing systems
  • Drive technical due diligence through construction: identify and manage technical, schedule, cost, environmental, and performance guarantee risks before they become problems
  • Prepare and manage detailed project schedules; hold subcontractors and internal teams accountable to milestones
  • Manage project budgets, review and approve expenditures, and process subcontractor draw requests

Technical Leadership

  • Oversee implementation of Measurement & Verification (M&V) plans, commissioning protocols, and post-implementation O&M handoffs
  • Evaluate submittals, RFIs, and field conditions against contract documents and energy performance requirements
  • Serve as the technical authority on-site — the person who spots a misapplied economizer sequence or a VFD programmed to the wrong speed reference

Team & Stakeholder Management

  • Oversee Associate Project Managers, Superintendents, and subcontractor field personnel
  • Own the client relationship: manage expectations, communicate clearly, and ensure satisfaction at every project phase to deliver excellence
  • Lead bid processes and subcontract negotiations with a firm understanding of MEP scope and pricing

Safety & Quality

  • Enforce CEG and site-specific safety standards; maintain OSHA compliance across all trades
  • Oversee on-site quality control programs to ensure work meets design intent and performance targets

What You Bring | Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of construction project management or project engineering experience
  • Hands-on experience with MEP systems, specifically HVAC, building controls (BAS/BMS), electrical distribution, and central utilities
  • Demonstrated ability to read and work from mechanical, electrical, and controls drawings and specifications
  • Experience managing subcontractors across multiple trades simultaneously
  • Proficiency with project management software (MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills — you can explain a heat exchanger efficiency curve to an engineer and a utility bill to a facilities director
  • OSHA-30 certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 50% annually
  • Ability to obtain federal / government security clearance(s)

Strongly Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with energy performance contracts (ESPC, PPEA, or guaranteed savings structures)
  • Background in commissioning (Cx) or retro-commissioning (RCx)
  • Familiarity with measurement & verification protocols (IPMVP)
  • Experience in federal, municipal, or institutional facility environments

Physical Requirements:

This role requires regular fieldwork in active construction environments. You must be able to ascend/descend ladders and stairs, work safely around construction equipment and energized systems, lift and/or transport up to 75 lbs., and communicate clearly in loud or complex field conditions.

Benefits:

  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
  • 401(k) with Company Matching
  • Life Insurance
  • Paid Time Off
  • Parental Leave
  • Professional Development Assistance
  • Bonus Opportunities

Why This Work Matters

Every project you deliver cuts energy waste, reduces carbon emissions, and proves to building owners that sustainability is an investment — not a cost. You'll see the results of your work on a utility bill, in a commissioning report, and in the trust of a client who brings you back for the next building.

If you're a technically driven PM who wants your work to count for something beyond the punchlist, we want to talk.
