Are you passionate about helping families access quality education for their young children? Do you like having a variety of job tasks, which allows you to organize and be detail-oriented while also being social and interactive?


Join an organization which has been providing quality education services through the Head Start program for 60 years. The Program Support Outreach Specialist works with management and staff, as well as outside agencies, to provide outreach and coordinate the integration of service components within the Early Childhood Education (ECE) department.

Key Responsibilities Include:· 

Serve as a welcoming first point of contact for families, community members, and partner organizations by responding to phone inquiries, providing accurate information about ACAP programs and services, and connecting individuals to the resources they need. Support families through the enrollment process for Early Childhood Education (ECE) programs.


Build trusting relationships with children, families, and community stakeholders to promote access to high-quality early childhood services and support positive outcomes for families.


Conduct outreach and community education efforts to increase awareness of ACAP's early childhood programs through community events, presentations, direct outreach, digital communications, and social media engagement.


Represent ACAP at community events, resource fairs, and partner meetings, serving as an ambassador for the organization's mission by promoting programs and services, distributing educational materials, and connecting families to available resources.


Assist in the planning, coordination, and implementation of outreach initiatives designed to increase program visibility, expand community partnerships, and enhance access to services for underserved populations.


Research, cultivate, and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations, schools, and local service agencies to strengthen referral networks and improve support for children and families.


Stay informed about community resources, public benefits, and early learning opportunities, and effectively share this information with families and community partners to help remove barriers and increase access to essential services.


Contribute to ACAP's mission by fostering an inclusive, family-centered approach that empowers parents, supports children's development, and strengthens the communities we serve.


Starting at $20.45 per hour; Monday-Friday 35 hours per week; Flexibility may be needed on nights and weekends to attend periodic outreach events.

QUALIFICATIONS  

High school, GED, or an Associate’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Early Childhood Education, Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field with at least two (2) year of experience in a related field is required.  Experience in a human services or community-based organization is preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Solid PC skills including database entry, word processing, and spreadsheet skills are required. Bilingual or multilingual abilities a plus. A valid NYS driver’s license with a means for transportation may be required.
