JOB SUMMARY
  • Provides professional nursing care for assigned patients according to established standards and practices. Duties include assessment of patients, developing plan of care, implementing the plan of care and evaluating plan of care. Position requires a high quality of care in order to meet the Hospital's core mission. Demonstrate knowledge and execute AORN standards and recommendations. Pull cases according to doctor preference cards. Maintain knowledge of surgical procedures. Anticipate needs of surgeon. Review picklist/ preference cards and make updates. Represents Phoebe values and role models leadership characteristics. Follow standard work and policies of Phoebe Health system. Facilitate cases to include verifies all supplies, implants and instruments are available. Meets or exceeds surgeon's expectations. Meets or exceeds surgeon's expectations for all Procedures to include Ortho and Neuro and more. Verifies team members skill set.


    EDUCATION
    Associate's Degree from a state accredited School of Professional Nursing (Required)
    Bachelor's Degree from a state accredited School of Professional Nursing in from a state accredited School of Professional Nursing (Preferred)

    CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
    Registered Nurse (RN) with current Georgia license (Required)
    Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required)
    Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year of hire (Required)
    Achieve CNOR Certification within 1 year of hire (Required)

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    ASSESSMENT AND DIAGNOSIS:
    Collects data in a systematic and ongoing process
    Issues are identified and diagnoses are developed based on assessment data.
    Prioritizes data collection based on the patient's condition and needs.
    Identifies expected outcomes and plan based on diagnoses or issues.
    CARE PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION:
    Develops an individualized plan with strategies that address diagnoses.
    Provides for continuity through a plan that directs other members of the team.
    Implements the plan in a safe and timely manner.
    Documents implementation and includes changes or omissions of the identified plan.
    Consults with healthcare providers and makes referrals as appropriate.
    Utilizes appropriate community resources and systems to implement the plan.
    DOCUMENTATION:
    Documents and submits required information and data in a timely fashion.
    Clearly and accurately documents designated processes, policies, products, service offerings, etc.
    Ensures that documentation is tailored to expected readers / users.
    Uses correct terminology.
    Conforms to required style and format.
    OUTCOMES AND EVALUATIONS:
    Develops expected outcomes that provide direction for continuity of care.
    Involves patient/family and other disciplines to determine expected outcomes.
    Modifies expected outcomes based on changes in the assessment of the patient.
    Includes the patient and others involved in the care in the evaluation process.
    Evaluates the plan in relation to patient responses and expected outcomes. Documents the results of the evaluation.
    RN - QUALITY:
    Uses the results of quality improvement activities in nursing practice.
    Uses creativity and innovation in nursing practice to improve care delivery.
    Incorporates evidence based knowledge to initiate change in nursing practice.
    Participates in quality improvement activities.

    Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs. For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.
    Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
