As a Tumor Registrar Assistant, you will:

Case-Finding & Follow-Up:

  • Identify and enter all reportable cancer cases and related clinical information into the registry database.
  • Review patient medical records and maintain accurate follow‑up data, including disease status, recurrence, treatment updates, and death information.
  • Communicate with Cancer Center physicians, external departments, and outside organizations to gather required information.

Cancer Conferences & Quality Support:

  • Help coordinate and prepare for regularly scheduled cancer conferences.
  • Support quality review activities, cancer committee meetings, and tasks related to maintaining Cancer Center accreditation.

Research Support:

  • Assist with clinical trials and other research projects through accurate data collection.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Associate Degree in Cancer Data Management or a related health field (Preferred)

Experience:

  • ≥ 1 year of Medical Records/Medical Terminology experience (Required)
  • ≥ 1 year of Anatomy & Physiology coursework or experience (Required)
  • ≥ 1 year of experience with Disease Processes (Preferred)
  • ≥ 1 year of Tumor Registry experience (Preferred)

  • Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.
  • For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.
  • Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
