Empire Coating Inc. is looking for a Production Racker to join our team.

If you're someone who likes to stay busy, works well with your hands, and can move quickly while still paying close attention to detail, this could be a great opportunity for you.

As a Production Racker, you'll prepare parts for wet paint and powder coating by placing them securely and correctly on racks before they enter the finishing process. This is a fast-paced position that plays an important role in keeping production moving. When parts aren't racked and ready, our painters and powder coaters can't do their jobs - so your work directly impacts the flow of the entire production floor.

About the Job

Production Racking may look simple, but doing it correctly matters. Parts must be positioned securely and consistently so they can move through the finishing process without being damaged, dropped, or improperly coated.

You'll learn how different types of parts need to be racked based on their size, shape, coating requirements, and existing masking.

What You'll Do

  • Rack and hang metal parts onto production racks in preparation for wet paint and powder coating.
  • Select the appropriate racking method based on the part and finishing requirements.
  • Position parts securely to prevent movement or damage during processing.
  • Pay close attention to existing masking, plugs, and protected areas when handling parts.
  • Avoid disturbing masking materials or removing plugs when positioning parts on racks.
  • Handle parts carefully to prevent scratches, dents, drops, or other damage.
  • Unrack completed parts after processing and move them to the appropriate next step.
  • Maintain a steady pace to keep painters and powder coaters supplied with work.
  • Visually inspect parts for obvious issues and communicate concerns to the Lead or Supervisor.
  • Follow customer-specific work instructions and production requirements.
  • Keep racks, tools, and the work area clean and organized.
  • Follow all company safety procedures when handling parts, racks, and production equipment.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

  • Works well in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Has good hand-eye coordination and is comfortable working with their hands.
  • Can work quickly while maintaining accuracy.
  • Pays close attention to detail.
  • Takes care when handling parts and understands the importance of preventing damage.
  • Can follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Is dependable and willing to learn.
  • Can work independently while also being part of a team.
  • Is comfortable standing, walking, lifting, and moving parts throughout the workday.
  • Is willing to work overtime when needed.
