Job Summary:

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for researching, developing, designing, testing, and evaluating electrical components, equipment, and systems. This role applies engineering principles to support the design and implementation of electrical systems for commercial, industrial, and related applications. The Electrical Engineer contributes to product and system development, supports testing and validation efforts, and may provide technical direction to engineering or technical personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Development

  • Design electrical systems, components, and equipment for commercial, industrial, and operational use
  • Develop schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications
  • Support the design and integration of electrical systems into larger projects or products
  • Ensure designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements

Research & Analysis

  • Conduct research to support development of new technologies, systems, and products
  • Analyze electrical system performance and recommend design improvements
  • Evaluate materials, components, and technologies for suitability and cost-effectiveness

Testing & Validation

  • Develop testing methods, procedures, and conditions for evaluating electrical systems and components
  • Design or support fabrication of test equipment and control apparatus
  • Conduct and document testing, analyze results, and ensure systems meet required specifications

Project & Technical Support

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineering
  • Provide technical guidance and support during design, development, and production phases
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving electrical system issues

Oversight & Continuous Improvement

  • May direct or support engineering technicians or junior engineers in project execution
  • Identify opportunities for design optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency improvements
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and company engineering practices

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Experience: 
    • Journeyman: 3-10 years of relevant engineering experience (level may vary based on organizational needs). Experience in electrical system design, testing, and analysis.
    • Senior: 10+ years of relevant engineering experience (level may vary based on organizational needs). Experience in electrical system design, testing, and analysis.
  • Clearance: Top Secret with SCI eligibility
  • Required Skills: 
  • Proficiency in electrical design and analysis tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, MATLAB, or similar)
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, components, and circuit design
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with PCB design or embedded systems
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, NEC, UL)
  • Experience with testing equipment and data analysis tools
  • Knowledge of control systems, automation, or power systems 

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Combination of office, laboratory, and field environments. May involve working with electrical systems, testing equipment, and prototypes. Occasional exposure to manufacturing or industrial settings.

Work Schedule:

Full-time position with standard business hours. Occasional extended hours based on business needs.
