Job Description: 

The Facilities Electrical Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, safety, and lifecycle management of electrical infrastructure and power distribution systems supporting facility operations. This role requires regular onsite presence to fulfill essential job responsibilities and leads complex electrical engineering projects while collaborating with cross-functional teams including design, construction, field operations, vendors, utility providers, and research and development organizations.

The engineer serves as the technical owner for electrical systems, driving operational excellence through system analysis, maintenance strategy development, asset lifecycle management, capacity planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Systems Engineering & Reliability

  • Conduct engineering analysis, audits, assessments, and performance evaluations of electrical systems and infrastructure.
  • Develop, review, and approve electrical specifications, standards, and maintenance procedures for power supply units and associated battery backup systems.
  • Ensure compliance with established quality, reliability, and performance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for assigned electrical equipment and systems.
  • Monitor equipment utilization, system performance, capacity, and reliability trends to identify potential risks and optimization opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain virtual sensors, monitoring tools, and analytics to proactively identify adverse trends and initiate corrective actions.
  • Prepare and communicate equipment health, reliability, and system performance reports to stakeholders.

Asset Management & Maintenance Strategy

  • Develop and manage preventive, predictive, condition-based, and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Create and maintain work order schedules for equipment management, repair, and maintenance activities.
  • Review equipment testing reports, maintenance findings, and failure analyses to support operational decision-making.
  • Perform life extension evaluations and asset condition assessments to determine the remaining useful life of electrical equipment.
  • Develop long-term end-of-life replacement strategies, project scopes, schedules, and change management plans for critical infrastructure assets.
  • Manage critical spare parts inventories associated with assigned systems and equipment.

Project Leadership

  • Lead complex electrical engineering projects and initiatives from planning through implementation.
  • Coordinate activities with design teams, construction managers, field operations personnel, vendors, and research and development teams.
  • Monitor project activities impacting electrical equipment and systems to ensure system integrity, reliability, and operational continuity.
  • Support capital planning efforts and infrastructure modernization projects.

Power Distribution & Utility Coordination

  • Partner with electrical utility providers to improve power quality, reliability, and continuity of service to manufacturing and facility operations.
  • Develop and maintain electrical power distribution system models and documentation.
  • Track and manage electrical system modifications and configuration changes.
  • Troubleshoot electrical distribution system issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct breaker coordination studies, arc flash analyses, and electrical system protection reviews.
  • Monitor electrical loads, system capacity, and future demand forecasts to support long-term planning and operational readiness.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. This position is not eligible for Intel immigration sponsorship

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related specialized field.
  • 2+ years of combined experience in:
    • Electrical engineering, system analysis, or facilities management.
    • Knowledge in electrical equipment management, facility operations, preventive maintenance, and problem-solving methodologies.
    • Experience with breaker coordination, arc flash studies, and power distribution modeling, Switching Procedures, Medium Voltage.
    • Compliance standards, quality assurance practices, and system capacity management.
    • Experience in sustaining operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge in analytical skills to identify and mitigate adverse system trends effectively.
  • Experience with utility provider operations and partnerships to improve power quality.

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US: $89,010.00-125,660.00 USD
