Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT:
Responsibilities:- Works under moderate supervision of nursing and medical staff to perform all duties of a PCT, which include assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
- Observe patients’ progress to prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurses or other medical staff.
- Obtains and records patients' vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests.
- Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.Â
- Measures and records patients' intake and output and other measurements in accordance with unit routines, assists patients with a range of motion, and draws blood.
Job Requirements:
- High School or GED.
BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
Preferred Job Requirements:Â Â
- Experience in Phlebotomy or completion of a Phlebotomy course.
- Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.
- 2 years of experience in acute or long-term care.
- Completion of approved CNA, PCT, or paramedic (EMT-P) certification, which includes BLS, or currently enrolled in nursing school.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
