Mantis Space is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support technical leadership for the design, integration, verification, and lifecycle management of spacecraft systems from concept development through on-orbit operations. This role leads multidisciplinary engineering teams, develops system architectures and requirements, manages technical risks, and ensures subsystem integration meets mission objectives, cost, and schedule. The engineer serves as the primary technical authority for system performance, interfaces with customers and program leadership, supports proposal and business development activities, and mentors junior engineers while ensuring compliance with industry standards and mission assurance requirements. Strong expertise in systems engineering processes, spacecraft design, and cross-functional collaboration is essential.

What You’ll Do
  • Assemble, inspect, and verify spacecraft power subsystem components
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for power subsystem issues during prototyping and manufacturing
  • Identify failure modes, troubleshoot issues, and drive improvements in power subsystem production workflows
  • Perform inspection, verification, and hands-on assembly of flight and development hardware
  • Contribute to power subsystem design refinement, production ramp-up, and mission-critical troubleshooting
  • Apply system-level understanding and spacecraft development or test experience to ensure reliable integration and mission readiness

Requirements

Technical Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in the development, integration, testing, or production of complex power systems
  • Deep technical expertise in electrical engineering and power systems
  • System-level understanding of complex products across full architectures
  • Familiarity with integration, verification, configuration management, and production ramp-up in complex hardware environments
  • Strong experience implementing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT) in high-reliability systems
Engineering Mindset

  • Systems-oriented thinker who can identify interface risks, anticipate integration challenges, and connect design, production, and operations
  • Hands-on, proactive problem solver with strong root-cause analysis skills
  • Continuous improvement mindset focused on reliability, repeatability, and scalability as production volumes grow
  • Proven experience working in multidisciplinary engineering environments
  • Comfortable mentoring engineers and technicians and driving cross-functional collaboration
  • Clear, confident communicator able to interface with designers, production leads, and executive stakeholders
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills

Benefits

Full range of competitive benefits including 100% employer-paid premiums (medical, dental, vision), retirement plans, and unlimited PTO
