Position Summary

The Assistant Mechanic is responsible for supporting the maintenance, repair, preventive care, and operational readiness of all golf course equipment, vehicles, and related assets under the direction of the Equipment Manager. This position plays a critical role within the Golf Course Agronomy team by ensuring equipment is safe, reliable, properly maintained, and available to support daily Club operations while maintaining the high standards expected at Bluejack Ranch.


Working closely with the Equipment Manager, Director of Agronomy, Golf Course Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents, and Agronomy team members, the Assistant Mechanic assists with equipment diagnostics, preventive maintenance programs, repairs, inventory management, and daily equipment preparation. Through technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and service excellence, the Assistant Mechanic ensures all equipment and operational areas are maintained according to Bluejack Ranch standards while supporting exceptional playing conditions and memorable experiences for members and guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities聽

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Perform general responsibilities of an Equipment Operator under the discretion of the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents,聽assisting聽with daily morning set-up of golf course.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to聽grind reels and聽bed knives聽with precision聽聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Dismantle, repair, construct and聽maintain聽machinery and equipment with a high degree of skill聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Perform general shop maintenance including minor repairs to facility, shop聽equipment聽and furnishings.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Understand the operation and working parts聽of internal combustion engines聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Understand the working properties of such metal as brass, aluminum, cast iron, and various alloys聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Knowledge of dimensions and uses of standard聽nuts, bolts,聽screws聽and threads聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Maintain聽all course accessories including cups/flags/flag sticks, benches.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Mechanical and preventive maintenance of golf carts/equipment聽and chargers:聽

o聽聽 Mechanical wiring.聽

o聽聽 Brakes and steering.聽

o聽聽 Paint and body work.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Maintain shop/facility inventories by implementing consistent inventory checks on parts/shop supplies and facility supplies聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Proper storage of all chemicals, lubricants, etc.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Perform preventive maintenance to ensure carts/equipment聽are safe and mechanically sound聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Maintain聽equipment-detailing聽program.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Maintain shop/facility cleanliness, following daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly/yearly聽shop and facility cleaning/maintenance checklists.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Maintain company vehicles and equipment with preventive maintenance programs.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Comply with聽company safety policies and procedures to include聽accurate聽MSDS information.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Manage the organization of components of the Natural Recourse Management Center聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Provide excellent member聽services, professional聽advice聽and聽assistance聽to all patrons聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Conduct oneself in a professional manner and聽maintain聽a professional image at all times聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Resolve member complaints and聽be a Bluejack聽Ranch聽ambassador at all times聽聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Adhere to all federal,聽state聽and local laws聽regarding聽health,聽safety聽and employment聽continually聽upgrade knowledge of cart maintenance procedures.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Perform duties with due regard聽for聽safety of self and fellow employees while exercising proper care and protection of company property.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Assist聽in morning聽equipment聽line-up.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 General special projects and additional duties as requested by the Director of Agronomy, Golf Course Superintendent, Equipment Manager, or other Club leadership.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Certification in accredit mechanical program preferred.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Knowledge of small/large engine repair, reel maintenance, electrical, plumbing and welding.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to use grinding equipment and shop tools with precision.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Prior experience in high-end golf/country聽club聽or hospitality industry a plus.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Strong communication聽and correspondence skills with the ability to聽maintain聽sound working relationships and communications with聽members,聽management, staff,聽ownership, prospective聽buyers聽and vendors.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Good organizational skills and the ability to work well independently;聽attention to quality and detail.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or GED required; a technical certification, vocational training, or equivalent mechanical experience is preferred.

APPROXIMATE SCHEDULE AND HOURS:

Weekdays, weekends, and Holidays, schedule flexible as business dictates.
