ELECTRICAL & INSTRUMENTATION SUPERVISOR

Position scope

  • This candidate will be responsible for providing day to day assistance to the electrical and instrumentation group to help provide a safe and productive environment.
  • This candidate will also be responsible for supporting area routine outages to ensure planned maintenance work is completed in the outage window.

roles & responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and direct the work process of 10 hourly, unionized team members
  • Keeping track of and validating hours worked by the employees under the candidate’s supervision, to provide accurate pay for employees.
  • Work with operations, other maintenance supervision and maintenance crews to implement planned work, emergency work and preventative maintenance schedules as required (work as part of a team or lead the team)
  • Able to work with Allen Bradley, Reliance, Foxboro, and Honeywell equipment 
  • Interface with Engineering, vendors, in-house crafts and outside contractors to complete capital projects and expense projects throughout area of responsibility
  • Ensures the weekly schedule of work provided is completed. This means working with Production Department to ensure safe and efficient lockouts are completed and area is cleaned for safe work. 
  • Driving safety and compliance by following Reliability Excellence initiatives, by using the Work Management processes.
  • Willing to be involved in and provide input or suggestions for special projects that improve safety, quality, environmental, and / or production goals.
  • Responsible for reporting safety incidents, ensuring standard operating procedures are up-to-date, work requests are entered, lockout tagout procedures are correct, etc. 
    1. Also includes ensuring and enforcing safety policies, safe working practices, quality, and production goals.
  • Will need to ensure information is exchanged between managers, superintendents, and employees

 

 

skills 

  • Knowledgeable in electrical power distribution, PLC’s, integrated DCS systems and networking, switchgears, motor controls, power systems, and various software systems.
  • Able to develop a team environment
  • Ability to work effectively with all groups of people, including unionized work force.
  • Able to provide technical and troubleshooting assistance when necessary.
  • Candidate needs to have strong communication skills, (i.e., interpersonal, written and verbal) 
  • Desired computer skills are Microsoft Word & Excel, with CMMS and AutoCad experience 
  • Self-directed and motivated to complete special projects
  • Able to multi-task efficiently under demanding circumstances
  • Prefer experience with Reliability Excellence (Rx) processes
  • Organized, attention to detail, and able to manage numerous documents. 

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering field desired, however equivalent electrical / instrumentation work experience (approximately 5-7 years) in the Pulp & Paper Industry can be suitable. 

Working Conditions

  • Safe and productive operation of the area of responsibility will allow for flexible work hours. 
  • Includes working in an office, as well as supervising maintenance within the plant. 
  • The company will provide training regarding union contracts, various reporting software that’s used including meeting environmental and safety objectives. 
  • Will provide training to make sure the candidate is trained in Reliability Excellence initiatives such as work requests regarding the CMMS system.
  • Will also provide training on the basic understanding of the processes that can be found in the various departments in the mill. 
  • There is also room for advancement or changing of work area, if so desired. This position will report to the Maintenance Manager.
