Description
Job Summary: The Applications Database Administrator will be responsible for the full lifecycle management, maintenance, and sustainment of the Agency’s enterprise databases. This role requires deep expertise in both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server to ensure database performance, integrity, security, and availability in a multi-tier architecture.
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide expert database administration for Oracle (19c or higher) and Microsoft SQL (2014 or higher) environments, including the design, development, modification, testing, and management of databases.
- Monitor, optimize, and tune database performance, operations, and SQL code, and automate data processing and      monitoring with notifications to ensure system health.
- Ensure database availability by providing support during core business hours and on-call support for mission-critical incidents, and by supporting high-availability features such as Clustering, mirroring, and replication. Â Â Â
- Manage the complete data lifecycle, including administering all database objects, performing data scrubs and refreshes, supporting data purging activities per policy, and testing and validating backups quarterly.
- Plan and implement robust database security measures, manage object access, enforce data integrity constraints, and coordinate with infrastructure teams on data security standards and storage scalability.
- Support application upgrades and implementations, facilitate connections to external data sources, and maintain database tools such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and standards, conduct SOP reviews, and support the creation of Disaster Recovery reports (ISCP, BIA) and annual Continuity of Operations (COOP) exercises.
Requirements
- Must have Government IT Contracting experience.
- Must have at least five (5) years of current experience in the field of database administration (Oracle and Microsoft SQL)
- Must have either:Â
- A minimum bachelor’s degree in a relevant field orÂ
- Both an Oracle 19c (or above) certification and a MCSA: SQL Server Administrator certification. Â
