What This Job is About:

The Director or Senior Director works closely with Senior Business Consultants to convert prospective partners across the managed care ecosystem into high-value, long-term accounts. Acting as a strategic advisor to key clients, the role aligns client objectives with AMCP's suite of solutions and leads cross-functional efforts to close complex deals. In addition, the Director or Senior Director identifies and co-leads high-impact thought leadership initiatives that elevate AMCP's industry authority and create novel commercial pathways.

Operational priorities include end-to-end pipeline management, integrating AI tools to increase sales productivity, and driving commercialization across AMCP membership networks and live event audiences. Additionally, the position serves as the primary liaison for Business Strategies to the external advertising agency for the Journal of Managed Care & Specialty Pharmacy while collaborating seamlessly across meeting operations, education, marketing, policy, finance, IT, and the AMCP Foundation.

More specifically, key responsibilities include:

  • Monitor and analyze emerging healthcare market trends to evaluate commercial impact and strategically align AMCP offerings and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Contribute to and facilitate the development of high-impact departmental strategic plans and execution tactics in alignment with the Practice Strategy and Innovation team.
  • Work alongside Senior Business Consultants to drive AMCP growth.
  • Expand year-round revenue streams by commercializing new engagement products
  • Build and scale tailored sponsorship packages for non-pharma growth sectors and maximizing lead generation and flexible renewal options.
  • Serve as a consultative advisor to key clients, driving awareness and securing financial support for AMCP solutions across corporate members, pharmaceutical manufacturers, managed market agencies, health plans, PBMs, health tech companies, and solution providers.
  • Expand business opportunities within the existing pharmaceutical customer base, targeting key functional leaders across Medical Affairs, Government Relations, Corporate Communications, Market Access, HEOR, Commercial Development, and clinical leadership.
  • Articulate and deliver high-quality, tailored value propositions that seamlessly align client strategic objectives with AMCP's comprehensive suite of products and services.
  • Act as the primary executive liaison to secure and expand revenue opportunities with the external advertising agency representing the Journal of Managed Care & Specialty Pharmacy.
  • Utilize sales databases and CRM platforms alongside post-event engagement metrics to track prospect evolution, client retention, revenue growth, and sponsor ROI.
  • Drive operational efficiency across the business development team by identifying, integrating, and leveraging AI tools and automation platforms to streamline lead prospecting, proposal development, account reporting, and AMCP product pipeline management.
  • Partner with the VP, PSI and Business Strategies to establish and manage the department's annual revenue and expense budget.
  • Collaborate seamlessly across ARI, meeting operations, education, marketing, policy, finance, IT, and the AMCP Foundation to grow, diversify, and fulfill client engagement across all AMCP lines of business.
  • Design and refine targeted marketing strategies and identify key audience segments for commercial opportunities in close partnership with Brand Marketing Communications.
  • Work collaboratively with key internal staff to ensure seamless execution and complete fulfillment of all client deliverables.

  • Bachelor’s degree required (business, healthcare, life sciences)
  • 10+ years pharmaceutical or healthcare medical, commercial strategy or business development experience.
  • Deep knowledge of managed care landscape
  • Proven track record translating complex market shifts into strategic, high-value commercial solutions.
  • Demonstrated team leadership experience, with success managing sales pipelines and cross functional collaboration.
