Job DetailsJob Location: PMC-Divisional HQ - Alexandria, VA 22314Salary Range: $72,000.00 - $90,000.00 Salary/yearJob Category: Business Operations This position is responsible for: The Salvation Army Potomac Divisional Headquarters is seeking an experienced Paralegal to provide legal and administrative support to Divisional Headquarters across estate/probate matters, employment issues, contracts, litigation coordination, legal research, document preparation, and case management. The role serves as a liaison with leadership, legal counsel, government agencies, field offices, and Territorial Headquarters, requiring strong organization, discretion, communication, research, drafting, and case-tracking skills. Candidates must have formal paralegal education and certification, relevant paralegal experience, and the ability to manage deadlines in a professional office environment while carrying out responsibilities with accuracy, professionalism, compassion, and an understanding of The Salvation Army’s mission. Key Responsibilities: Conducts legal research and prepares legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, EEOC responses, agency complaints, contracts, deeds, closing papers, wills, and trust instruments for attorney review and use. Reviews subpoenas received by the Division, coordinates delivery to appropriate parties, and gathers related information for Divisional and Territorial review. Coordinates estate and probate matters, including family communications, funeral or memorial arrangements, asset administration, transaction records, accounting, legal counsel coordination, and related estate administration duties through completion. Manages case files, maintains documentation, records meetings and communications, tracks timelines, and monitors deadlines through an organized tickler system. Reviews commercial contracts, identifies key clauses, business terms, concerns, and proposed resolutions, and tracks major contract deadlines for relevant Officers and employees. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines and time constraints. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU Associate degree in paralegal studies or equivalent formal paralegal education with a Paralegal Certification is required; bachelor’s degree in legal studies preferred , AND Three years’ progressively responsible paralegal work experience with specialized experience in estate/probate, employment law and contract administration are required with supervisory experience preferred; OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
