JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The Wealth Intern may gain exposure to all areas of the Trust, Wealth Management, and Private Banking organizations, but will focus primarily on the investment management aspect of the business. Will primarily support the Portfolio Management team. The Portfolio Management team assists customers and colleagues with investment, estate, and general financial planning needs. The career goal of the Intern should be to become a Financial Advisor of Financial Analyst. 


This position introduces the Intern to the operation of a Wealth business unit with the structure, security, and resources of a premier community bank. The primary goal of the Wealth Intern is to learn and assist in cultivating and growing financial planning relationships with Burke & Herbert Bank customers.


Essential Functions

  • Analyze information regarding the customer's income, assets, investments or debts.
  • Researching which financial products best meet the customer's needs and financial circumstances.
  • Developing portfolio analytics.

Skills/Abilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Strong computer skills, especially in Excel.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment

This job operates in an office setting, the opportunity to telework is not available. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Office environment with job duties conducted via telephone, face to face meetings, and on the computer.


Physical Demands

This position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and open cabinets. This position requires bending, stooping or standing as necessary.


Travel

Limited local travel may be required for this position.

 

Education and Experience

  • Candidates must currently be pursuing a degree in Finance or a related field, preferably having completed at least two years of their undergraduate degree.
