JOB SUMMARY
Plans Reviewer, Construction Development-Employees & PublicAnnual Salary Range: $44,950.93 - $53, 949.79 Grade: 27The City of Alexandria, located in Central Louisiana, is seeking professionals to begin a career in the Construction Development Department to review residential and commercial building plans and specifications for compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, and standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- -------- Performs responsible technical work involving the review of all residential and commercial construction, additions, renovation plans, blueprints, and drawings to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.
- -------- Provides information and answers inquiries concerning building codes and ordinances to the public, architects, engineers, and general contractors.
- -------- Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable laws/regulations; maintains an awareness of new trends and advances.
- -------- Verifies proper City business, state, and homebuilder's licensures.
- -------- Accepts construction plans and plan documents associated with permit processing.
Minimum Qualifications:
- -------- Bachelor's degree in architecture, civil engineering, construction management, or related field; and three (3) years' experience in general building construction, code interpretation, building inspection, and/or plans review, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.-Necessary Special Requirements:
- -------- Must possess a valid driver's license.-
- -------- Will be required to obtain a valid State of Louisiana driver's license at time of appointment and maintain throughout employment.-
- -------- Must possess or obtain within one year of hire the following certificates issued by the International Code Council (ICC): ICC Combination Plans Examiner and ICC Residential Plans Examiner -Or- ICC Certified Building Official--
- -------- An understanding of Floodplain Management and site planning is preferredWork Hours: 40 Hours per week, may work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
