Job Overview

Prepare food items with care, consistency, and attention to detail to support smooth kitchen operations and successful service. The Prep Cook plays a critical role in setting the kitchen up for success by ensuring ingredients are properly prepared, organized, and ready for execution.They are an ambassador of happiness and hospitality for all guests and associates.

Responsibilities

  • Showcase an inherent desire to take care of others.
  • Complete assigned opening and closing prep tasks to ensure kitchen readiness.
  • Prepare meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other ingredients according to recipes, portioning standards, and prep lists.
  • Accurately measure, label, date, and rotate products in accordance with food safety and BOH procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation, including tools, equipment, and prep areas.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and temperature control standards.
  • Assist with receiving and storing deliveries, checking product quality and proper storage.
  • Communicate inventory needs or low stock items to culinary leadership promptly.
  • Support line cooks during service as needed with urgency and teamwork.
  • Participate in deep cleaning and organization projects as assigned.
  • Maintain professionalism and a team-oriented mindset while supporting kitchen operations.
  • Attend scheduled meetings and actively participate with suggestions for improvement.
  • Maintains a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times.
  • Exhibits a kind, welcoming, detail-oriented approach with a strong sense of urgency.

Qualifications

 

Education/Formal Training

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of food service or related kitchen experience preferred.
  • Must meet state and federal requirements for food handling.

 

Knowledge/Skills

  • Basic knife skills and familiarity with kitchen equipment (e.g., slicers, ovens, mixers).
  • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with kitchen staff.
  • Ability to read and follow recipes, prep lists, and instructions.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.

  • Ability to hear and respond to equipment timers, staff communication, and operational needs.

Environment

  • Physically demanding role requiring prolonged standing, walking, lifting, and carrying in an indoor kitchen environment, with exposure to heat and cold storage areas.
