Security Specialist (Physical Security)

About the role

The Security Specialist / Physical Security is responsible for managing and overseeing physical security measures, ensuring the protection of facilities and classified information. Develops, maintains, and synchronizes all security policy, SOPs, job aids, continuity books, and training across SSO. Serves as the cross-discipline integrator, providing surge support and gap coverage across INFOSEC, PERSEC, PHYSEC, OPSEC, Insider Threat, and Industrial Security, when dedicated staffing is unavailable. 

What you'll do

• Draft, update, and maintain all security policies, SOPs, job aids, and continuity books 
• Develop standardized templates, checklists, and workflow guides 
• Develop annual security training products across all disciplines 
• Support the Chief of Security in delivering training 
• Conduct internal self-inspections and track corrective actions 
• Prepare SSO for external audits and SAVs 
• Conduct policy reviews and gap analyses 
• Maintain the security governance library and version control 
• Provide cross-discipline surge support across all security functional areas 
• Track regulatory updates and incorporate changes into policy 
• Coordinate with SSO SASP Security, CD&I, SAPCO, WHS & OUSD(P) 
• Conduct classification reviews and ensure proper safeguarding of policy documents 
• Conduct daily review of the Security Portal and group inbox 
• Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

Required Skills / Minimum Qualifications 

• Active TS/SCI eligibility 
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in a security discipline 
• Completed CSA/CDSE training within the past three years or seven (7) years of experience 

Preferred Skills / Experience 

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 
• Five (5) years combined OSD, Joint Staff, or Service-level experience 
• Experience supporting audits, inspections, or SAVs 
• Experience developing continuity books and workflow documentation
