Position Summary

This is an ONSITE position located in Alexandria, VA.
 
National Capitol Contracting is seeking a 0365 Systems Engineer (Senior) to join our team in support of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The USPTO fosters innovation and economic growth by administering the nation's patent and trademark systems. The System Engineer Senior performs engineering, operations, maintenance, integration, customization, and lifecycle support for the agency's enterprise Microsoft 365 collaboration environment. This position supports steady-state operations, platform modernization, production support, and implementation of Microsoft 365 collaboration capabilities 

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Perform engineering, operations, and maintenance activities supporting SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive for Business, Power Automate, Power Apps, and other Microsoft 365 collaboration services.
  • Design, configure, customize, integrate, administer, and maintain enterprise collaboration platforms supporting USPTO business operations.
  • Develop custom SharePoint Online pages, components, and solutions utilizing SharePoint Framework (SPFx), React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, REST APIs, and scripting technologies.
  • Monitor system health, perform preventive maintenance, investigate incidents, conduct root cause analysis, develop workarounds, and implement long-term corrective actions.
  • Provide expert technical support for complex collaboration platform issues and develop engineering solutions that prevent recurring problems.
  • Support system upgrades, deployments, testing, configuration management, migration efforts, and implementation of new Microsoft 365 collaboration capabilities.
  • Evaluate integration alternatives, estimate implementation effort, identify technical risks, and recommend engineering solutions supporting agency requirements.
  • Research and recommend new collaboration technologies, SharePoint enhancements, Power Platform capabilities, Microsoft Copilot features, and process automation solutions.
  • Develop engineering documentation, operational procedures, technical reports, training materials, and site activity reports supporting production operations.
  • Coordinate with Government personnel, Service Desk staff, infrastructure teams, and cybersecurity personnel to ensure secure, resilient, and compliant collaboration services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience engineering and administering enterprise Microsoft 365 collaboration environments.
  • Experience supporting SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive for Business, Power Platform, and Microsoft 365 services.
  • Experience developing SharePoint customizations using SPFx, React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, PowerShell, and related technologies.
  • Experience performing engineering, operations, maintenance, root cause analysis, platform integration, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Experience preparing technical documentation, operational procedures, and engineering deliverables.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 collaboration services within a Federal environment.
  • ITIL Foundation certification.


Compensation:

$85,000.00 - $90,000.00

The compensation range listed for this position is provided as a good-faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, budget, market data, and relevant laws.
