JOB DESCRIPTION: Director of Career Services
DEPARTMENT: Student Engagement
POSITION TITLE: Director of Career Services
SUPERVISOR: Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Engagement
PURPOSE:  The Director of Career Services provides strategic leadership, vision, and oversight for LSUA's comprehensive career development initiatives. This role is responsible for designing and delivering programs that help students explore career pathways, develop professional skills, engage with employers, and successfully transition into the workforce or graduate/professional school. The Director ensures that career services are deeply integrated with academic advising and student success initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•  Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive career programming that educates students on the job search process, interviewing skills, professional branding, resume and cover letter writing, and all aspects of career planning.
•  Collaborate with the Center for Opportunity, Research, and Experiential Learning to develop and sustain experiential learning opportunities that align with academic and classroom learning and support successful employment outcomes.
•  Maintain, post, and disseminate information regarding full-time, part-time, temporary employment, and internship opportunities.
•  Cultivate and maintain relationships with employers, community partners, and external organizations to expand career and employment opportunities for students.
•  Represent the university to off-campus groups, businesses, agencies, and professional organizations as appropriate.
•  Partner with college deans and campus stakeholders involved in external engagement to promote LSUA as a supportive, responsive, and reliable institutional partner.
•  Oversee on-campus recruitment activities, employer interviewing processes, resume referral services, and job-posting systems.
•  Monitor workforce trends, employment data, and emerging career pathways to inform program development and align services with current and future labor market needs.
•  Lead continuous improvement efforts through assessment, data collection, benchmarking, goal setting, and evaluation of career services programs and outcomes.
•  Oversee the Career Services budget, including planning, allocation, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring responsible use of institutional resources in support of departmental goals.
•  Oversee Handshake and other career management platforms to ensure effective utilization and student engagement.
•  Perform other duties as assigned in support of departmental and institutional priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
♦  Master's Degree in higher education, educational leadership, counseling, or related field preferred
♦  Minimum of three (3) years with direct experience or relevant experience
♦ Self-motivator, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative
♦  Effective verbal and written communications skills and effective presentation skills.
HOURS: Eight (8) hours per day, Monday-Friday 40 hours a week. Must be able to work outside of typical work hours for student events/programs.
