Purpose

The Project Management & Design Intern supports the planning, coordination, and execution of high-profile university events and special projects led by University Events & Experience. This role provides hands-on exposure to event production and design, logistics, and guest experience for signature university events.

Learning Objectives

  • Gain practical experiences in event logistics and venue operations.

  • Develop teamwork and communication skills in a fast-paced environment.

  • Understand the behind-the scenes coordination required for professional events.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning and execution of university events, including signature football weekends, donor events, and special projects.

  • Assist with assembling, organizing, and preparing welcome gifts, favors, and branded materials.

  • Help maintain detailed production schedules, timelines, and task lists.

  • Support event logistics such as rental, décor, signage, and vendor coordination.

  • Assist with basic budget tracking, invoice organization, and post-event documentation.

  • Provide on-site event support as needed, including setup, guest assistance, and event breakdown.

  • Work closely with the Senior Events Manager and University Events team to gain exposure to all phases of event planning.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a UT student with good academic standing.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and attention to detail.

  • Interest in event management, hospitality, design, or operations preferred.

Hourly Rate

$15.00/hour

Working Conditions

  • In office and on-site during events.

  • Some heavy lifting may be required.

  • May work around standard office conditions.

Work Shift

  • 12 – 18 hours per week.

  • Position ends 8/31/2026 with option to renew.

  • Some early mornings, evenings, and weekend work will be required.
