Job Purpose
As a Business Development Manager focused on the automotive sector, you'll spearhead customer acquisition and account growth among dealerships, car rental companies, and fleet management companies, with an emphasis on vehicle transport, inventory replenishment, and parts distribution freight. You'll deliver exceptional service while driving business growth in a fast-evolving logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve sales targets and earn competitive commission through proactive outreach and effective deal closure within the automotive vertical.
- Drive new business development with dealership groups, car rental companies, and fleet management companies across service lines including dry van, expedited, LTL, drop trailer, temperature-controlled, and managed transportation.
- Onboard and manage client accounts, delivering consultative logistics solutions built around dealer lot replenishment, rental fleet repositioning, and time-sensitive parts and vehicle delivery windows.
- Act as a logistics solutions advocate, educating prospects on Scout Freight's automotive capabilities – from precision load matching and expedited capacity to performance analytics and responsive issue resolution.
- Leverage real-time visibility tools and reliable carrier relationships to address disruptions, protect against delivery delays that impact dealer inventory availability or rental fleet turnover, and exceed customer expectations.
- Coordinate with internal teams, including operations and carriers, to align sales commitments with delivery capability and supply chain execution.
- Analyze and report on key performance indicators – on-time delivery, transit times, customer satisfaction – to continuously optimize sales strategy for automotive accounts.
- Nurture long-term partnerships, building trust through consistency, integrity, and a deep commitment to the reliability automotive customers require.
- Stay agile and adaptable, embracing challenges as Scout Freight scales and innovates across automotive and other specialized services.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred in Marketing, Communications, Logistics, or related field.
- Experience: 2–5+ years in logistics, broker sales, or account management, with experience supporting dealership networks, vehicle transport, or rental/fleet logistics preferred.
- Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication; proficiency in logistics systems, and data-driven decision-making.
