  • The position is in-person in Riverdale, MD, and offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience.

About the Role

We are seeking a CAD Designer to join our design team supporting the development of Multi-Layer Insulation (MLI) blanket systems. This role is ideal for candidates with a background in industrial design, apparel/technical design, or pattern development who are interested in applying their 3D-to-2D translation skills in a high-performance manufacturing environment.

This is not an engineering role. We are looking for someone with strong spatial visualization skills, attention to detail, and an interest in growing their CAD capabilities — particularly in Creo.

This role operates with direct mentorship and structured guidance while building technical proficiency.

What You'll Do

  • Create and modify 3D CAD models in Creo based on design inputs and guidance from engineering.

  • Translate 3D models into accurate 2D flat patterns for fabrication and production.

  • Develop detailed drawings and documentation to support manufacturing.

  • Assist with configuration updates and drawing revisions.

  • Prepare layout files and ensure pattern accuracy for production use.

  • Support internal design reviews and incorporate feedback into revisions.

  • Maintain organized CAD files and follow established naming and revision control processes.

  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.

  • Learn and apply company design standards and CAD best practices.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of templates and workflow processes as skills develop.

What We’re Looking For

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in CAD Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of CAD engineering or design experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Basic proficiency in Creo (preferred) or equivalent CAD platforms such as SolidWorks.
  • Strong ability to conceptualize 3D forms and translate them into accurate 2D flat patterns.
  • High attention to detail and strong visual-spacial skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to follow structured processes.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, production-focused environment.
