Job Description

The Unit Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for the department’s administrative operations. This role provides support to patients, visitors, providers, and staff; coordinates communication; maintains records and data; and assists with reports, registration, supplies, and other administrative functions to support efficient department operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the central point of contact for patients, visitors, staff, and providers

  • Coordinate department communications and respond to requests in a timely, professional manner

  • Create, organize, and maintain confidential reports, correspondence, and other documentation

  • Collect and enter data and assist with developing reports and spreadsheets

  • Provide inpatient bedside registration and maintain patient information

  • Maintain administrative supplies and inventory

  • Answer phones, respond to call lights, and assist with customer service needs

  • Support department meetings, filing, and other administrative activities

  • Maintain an organized and efficient workstation

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support department operations

  • Promote quality improvement, patient and staff safety, cultural diversity, and excellent customer service

  • Maintain compliance with applicable policies, regulations, HIPAA, and organizational standards

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Able to speak and read the English language fluently

  • Proficient in use of computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a unit clerk or in a medical support role

  • Knowledge of medical terminology or coursework in medical terminology
