Working closely with business partners and subject matter experts, the Instructional Designer transforms performance needs into effective learning solutions while delivering high-quality project execution from analysis through implementation.Ā This roleĀ continuously exploresĀ new technologies, design approaches, and AI-enabled workflows to improve efficiency, learner engagement,Ā and learning outcomes.Ā

Major Tasks, Responsibilities,Ā and Key AccountabilitiesĀ 

50%Ā -Ā Design and developĀ learningĀ solutions, including eLearning, instructor-led training,Ā distanceĀ learning, blended learning, etc.Ā Ā 

20% - Collaborate withĀ Learning Strategy Senior Managers andĀ subject matter experts during the analysis phase and throughout the project.Ā Ā Ā 
10% - Work with standard development tools and software (Articulate Storyline/Rise,Ā PowerPoint, etc.).Ā Ā 
10% - Communicate with project team members and effectively manage projects.Ā Ā Ā 
10% - Work on creative and innovative ways to developĀ associates.


Direct Manager/Direct Reports:

  • This position reports to Manager of Learning.
  • This position has 0 direct reports.


Travel Requirements:

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.


Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.


Working Conditions:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's orĀ Bachelor'sĀ degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, HRĀ Development,Ā Organizational Development, I/O Psychology,Ā or related fieldĀ preferred (or equivalent Home Depot experience)Ā 
  • Ability to design learner-centered experiences that are visually engaging, contextual, andĀ immediatelyĀ applicable to the work environmentĀ 
  • Working knowledge of multiple learning modalities including eLearning, instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, mobile, and performance support solutionsĀ 
  • Experience with agile learning development or the Successive Approximation Model (SAM)Ā Ā 
  • Experience using generative AI and AI-enabled tools to support learning analysis, content development, asset creation, and workflow efficiency.Ā Ā 
  • Curiosity and willingness to continuously learn emerging technologies and evolving learning practicesĀ 
  • Knowledge of current learning technologies, digital learning trends, and modern content creation practices.Ā ProficiencyĀ using modern learning technologies, AI-enabled content development platforms, and digital learningĀ toolsĀ  (i.e., Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe Creative Cloud,Ā Copilot, Gemini,Ā etc.)Ā 
  • Experience consulting with business partners and SMEs toĀ identifyĀ learning needs and recommend learning solutionsĀ 
  • Strong ability to communicate professionally, provide proper context, and tailor messages to a variety of audiencesĀ 
  • Ability to work independently (e.g., project revisions, solving issues as they arise)Ā 
  • Familiarity with learning analytics, learner feedback, and data-driven evaluation methodsĀ 


Minimum Education:

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and/or GED.


Minimum Years of Work Experience:

  • 3


Competencies:

  • Proficient knowledge of instructional design and adult learning theories
  • Proficiency with software including Microsoft Office and standard eLearning development tools
  • Basic knowledge of project management principles and MS Project
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
