The Senior Patient Financial Services Representative provides a vital role to the patients and family members for Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) and its affiliates. This includes Hospital, Professional, and Home Health Billing. This position supports self-pay outsource agencies and all departments and practices within BILH. The primary role of the Senior Patient Financial Services Representative is to act as a liaison to our customers, departments, and physician practices on revenue cycle issues

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Assists customers with billing/insurance/charge/referral questions to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction 路 Works with departments throughout the organization to ensure resolution of customer inquiries.
  • Works with Hospital, Professional, and Home Health Billing Teams when identifying trends that can lead to inappropriate billing to the customer.
  • Working in an SBO (Single Billing Office), environment, the Customer Service Specialist will need to have knowledge in Hospital, Professional, and Home Health Billing in order to assist the customer with questions related to their bills and statements received from insurance companies.
  • Work with the Cash team to resolve unapplied cash, payment plans, and cosmetic services.
  • Works closely with outside vendors and the Extended Business Office to ensure seamless customer service. 路 Assists customers with any inquiries related to the Lahey Hospital Portal
  • Key employee who will be responsible for the training and support of Epic. This employee would be the department Super User for Epic and would work closely with the Instructional Design Team to ensure that the knowledge base of Epic would allow to support of employees within the department.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor鈥檚 degree preferred.

Experience:

  • 3 years of customer service experience.
  • 1 year of experience in either a hospital-related billing, claims follow-up environment, or hospital coding.
  • Experience using patient accounting computer systems and Excel spreadsheets.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of third-party payer reimbursement, coding guidelines, and government and payer compliance rules
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong computer skills, Microsoft office essential (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

Pay Range:

$23.00 - $30.95

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography聽of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.聽 Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
