COMPANY OVERVIEW

TransGrid Energy is a renewable energy company focused on investing, developing, owning and operating utility-scale battery energy storage systems and PV projects. TransGrid has a robust pipeline of projects under construction and in late-stage development, and the Company is actively expanding its energy asset portfolio across the United States.

As an affiliate company of Hanwha Group, a FORTUNE Global 500 company driven by a firm commitment to advancing the clean energy future, TransGrid Energy is striving to shape the renewable energy landscape by providing sustainable and reliable power solutions tailored to meet the energy needs of today and tomorrow.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Senior Director, Energy Optimization & Orchestration Solutions to lead the development of a next-generation energy optimization platform that combines advanced optimization, agentic AI, power systems, controls, distributed energy resources, and data center operations.

The mission of this role is to transform energy infrastructure from a static constraint into a dynamically managed capacity resource. The first major application will focus on grid interactive – flexible data center energy optimization—unlocking additional usable MW from existing power and cooling infrastructure while maintaining reliability, resiliency, and operational safety.

As AI infrastructure becomes increasingly power constrained, data centers can no longer manage power, cooling, compute, storage, and grid interaction independently. These systems must be orchestrated as one integrated operating environment. The Senior Director will lead the development of the technology, architecture, and organization required to make that possible.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and lead TransGrid Energy's strategy for energy optimization, orchestration, and intelligent energy management across data centers, distributed energy resources, battery storage, and grid-interactive infrastructure.

  • Build a next-generation platform that transforms energy infrastructure from a static constraint into a dynamically managed capacity resource, enabling customers to maximize usable compute capacity, infrastructure utilization, resiliency, and economic value.

  • Lead the development of advanced optimization, forecasting, controls, digital twin, and AI-enabled capabilities that continuously evaluate available electrical, thermal, storage, and grid capacity to improve operational performance.

  • Create and commercialize scalable software, technology, and service offerings that can be deployed across multiple customer environments rather than delivered as one-off engineering projects.

  • Establish the architecture and operating framework required to coordinate battery storage, distributed generation, renewable resources, cooling systems, utility interaction, flexible loads, and data center operations as a single integrated system.

  • Drive the application of AI, automation, and intelligent decision-support technologies to improve energy operations, infrastructure utilization, reliability, and capacity planning.

  • Partner with engineering, software, controls, operations, product, and commercial teams to develop and deploy market-leading optimization solutions.

  • Lead integration efforts across SCADA, EMS, DERMS, EPMS, BMS, utility systems, distributed energy resources, and data center infrastructure platforms.

  • Work directly with customers, utilities, technology partners, and internal stakeholders to identify challenges, validate solutions, and accelerate adoption of new capabilities.

  • Define product roadmaps, deployment models, success metrics, and commercialization strategies that support long-term platform growth.

  • Recruit, develop, and lead a multidisciplinary team spanning optimization, power systems, controls, software, AI, product development, and commercial functions.

  • Serve as a thought leader internally and externally on the evolving convergence of AI infrastructure, data center operations, battery storage, distributed energy resources, and intelligent grid interaction.

  • Measure success through outcomes such as infrastructure capacity unlocked, compute capacity enabled, customer adoption, operational performance improvements, recurring revenue generation, and overall business value created.

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
