Join an established, dynamic Cyber Security Engineering team within the Leidos Centralised Processing Program for Defence.  As a Senior Cyber Security Engineer you will work with Leidos and Defence staff as a Technical SME, managing and delivering systems and solutions responsible for providing Cyber-security outcomes across the managed environment with a multi-faceted team.  If wearing many hats is your thing, this job is for you!

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical subject matter expertise and leadership across one or more key cybersecurity technical domains
  • Act as the technical owner of security outcomes within a cybersecurity domain, driving the development, implementation and ownership of security systems, controls, standards, mitigations and solutions supporting Defence operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory controls and cybersecurity policies.
  • Engage directly with other cybersecurity and engineering domains to provide tactical cybersecurity advice, articulate technical solutions, and build long-term trusted relationships
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including architectural diagrams, implementation plans, tuning guides, and operational runbooks.
  • Champion quality assurance and design feedback across engineering deliverables, focused on achieving strong cybersecurity outcomes and the delivery of effective security controls across proposals, documentation, service transition and deployment standards.
  • Act as a key technical escalation point for technical deliverables.
  • Mentor and guide fellow cybersecurity staff through knowledge sharing, technical reviews and process improvement
  • Lead the maturation and continuous improvement across your cybersecurity technical domain

 About You and What You'll Bring

  • 4-7 years or more experience in multiple ICT domains, such as midrange systems, networks, end‑user computing, automation, cybersecurity, or similar technical areas.
  • 3-5 years or more in one or more Cybersecurity domains such as Application Control, Application Hardening, EDR, Observability, and Vulnerability Detection.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong working understanding of the Information security manual (ISM) and the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF).
  • Highly desirable: familiarity with tools/technology areas including Trellix EPO, Splunk, Ansible, Tenable, Enterprise Linux, Apache NiFi, Enterprise Networks, Network Security

This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and hold a NV-2 level security clearance. Those currently holding an NV-1 will also be considered if willing to uplift to NV-2.
