Dan / Gio Interpreter - Contractor

An Independent Contractor Interpreter is responsible for facilitating interpretation sessions for CyraCom clients in a professional, focused manner and utilizing the necessary equipment to provide accurate and complete interpretation. Interpreters must possess and maintain a high level of skill, proficiency, and professionalism in interpreting. Due to the sensitive nature of much of the information processed during an interpretation session, a high degree of integrity and confidentiality must be maintained at all times. Essential functions include providing meaning-for-meaning interpreting, following interpreter protocols and procedures as required by CyraCom clients, adhering to all CyraCom policies and procedures related to information confidentiality and interpreter ethics, and continuously improving vocabulary and specialized subject matter knowledge for various clients such as medical, legal, social services, etc. Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include fluency in English and the target language, skilled communication both orally and in writing, basic understanding of linguistics and different cultures, ability to adjust to rapidly changing circumstances, ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations, strong attention to detail and accuracy, ability to work independently and exercise initiative within policy parameters, and ability to use standard office equipment. Minimum qualifications include interpretation experience or professional interpreter certification or training. Preferred qualifications include a two- to four-year degree in interpretation, higher education taught in English or other working language, and experience in relevant areas other than interpretation such as healthcare. The pay rate is $0.40 per minute and varies based on experience, dialects, and interpreter certifications provided. As an Independent Contractor Interpreter, the individual will function as a vendor providing language interpretation services on an IRS Form 1099 basis and will not be an employee of CyraCom.
