Admissions Coordinator – Part-Time

Kern River Transitional Care Center is seeking a friendly, organized, and dependable Part-Time Admissions Coordinator to join our team. The Admissions Coordinator helps facilitate the admission process and serves as an important point of contact for residents, families, referral sources, and facility staff.

Pay Range: $17.58–$17.60 per hour

General Purpose

The Admissions Coordinator assists with the day-to-day admissions process to ensure new residents and their families receive a welcoming, organized, and positive experience. This position works closely with facility leadership, nursing, business office, social services, and other departments to coordinate admissions and maintain accurate documentation.

Essential Duties

  • Assist with coordinating resident admissions, transfers, and inquiries.
  • Communicate with residents, families, hospitals, discharge planners, case managers, and other referral sources.
  • Gather and organize required admission documents and resident information.
  • Prepare admission paperwork and ensure required forms are completed accurately.
  • Coordinate resident arrival information with nursing and other appropriate departments.
  • Welcome new residents and families to the facility and assist with the admission process.
  • Provide information regarding facility services, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate admission records, logs, and documentation.
  • Enter and update resident information in facility systems as required.
  • Answer admission-related telephone calls and respond to inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Maintain communication with referral sources regarding prospective and pending admissions.
  • Assist with verifying that necessary information is available prior to admission.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident information and protected health information.
  • Develop positive working relationships with residents, families, staff, and community referral partners.
  • Provide excellent customer service and represent the facility in a professional manner.
  • Assist with administrative and clerical duties as assigned.

Supervisory Requirements

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous healthcare, admissions, administrative, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Skilled nursing or long-term care experience is a plus.
  • Basic computer and office skills required.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and understand policies, procedures, and admission documents.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, employees, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to communicate professionally by telephone, email, and in person.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and seek assistance when necessary.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, read, and hear. Frequent use of computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, and other office equipment is required.
