This position is off-campus and student employees must provide their own transportation to the site.

 

JOB TITLE: Marketing & Communications Intern 

PAY RATE: $18.00/hour

REPORTS TO: Director & Marketing Representative 

HOURS: Maximum 10 hours per week (40 hours per month) Flexible scheduling based on organizational needs and academic commitments.

LOCATION(S): Remote (with occasional in-person support for events and content creation, as needed)

 

About The Free Book Buggie (TFBB) The Free Book Buggie (TFBB) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting literacy and increasing access to books for children and families. Through community partnerships, outreach initiatives, and engaging educational programs, TFBB strives to inspire a lifelong love of reading.

 

Position Summary

The Marketing & Communications Intern will support TFBB's marketing, communications, and digital media initiatives. This position provides hands-on experience in nonprofit communications, social media marketing, graphic design, website content management, annual report development, and multimedia storytelling. The intern will work closely with the Director and Marketing Representative to create compelling content that increases community engagement, strengthens TFBB's brand, and supports organizational goals.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Social Media Content Creation

• Write engaging, mission-driven content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Tik-Tok and other social media platforms.

• Develop captions, campaign messaging, and promotional content aligned with TFBB's branding.

• Assist in planning and maintaining the social media content calendar. thefreebookbuggie.org

• Monitor social media trends and recommend creative content ideas.

Graphic Design

• Design graphics for social media, newsletters, events, presentations, flyers, and promotional materials.

• Maintain consistent branding across all visual communications.

• Create infographics and marketing assets supporting literacy initiatives.

Video Content & Reels

• Assist in planning, filming, and editing short-form videos and Instagram/Facebook/ Tik-Tok, LinkedIn Reels.

• Capture photos and videos during events and community activities when applicable.

• Develop engaging multimedia content to increase audience engagement.

Website Support

• Update website content, graphics, blogs, and event information.

• Ensure website content remains current and consistent with organizational branding.

• Assist with website design enhancements and user experience improvements.

Annual Report Support

• Assist with collecting organizational impact data.

• Draft and edit written content for the annual report.

• Support layout, graphics, and design of the annual report.

• Help showcase TFBB's programs, achievements, and community impact.

General Marketing Support

• Assist with marketing campaigns and outreach initiatives.

• Support communications for fundraising events and community partnerships.

• Participate in team meetings and contribute creative ideas.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications

Education

Applicants should be currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in one of the following fields:

• Strategic Communication 

• Graphic Design

• Creative Design

 

Preferred Skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong creative writing and storytelling abilities.

• Experience creating content for social media platforms.

• Graphic design skills using Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite.

• Basic video shooting and editing skills.

• Familiarity with website content management systems (such as WordPress or similar platforms).

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.

• Passion for literacy, education, and nonprofit work.
