What you will do

Reporting to the Director of Projects, the Commissioning Manager will serve as the single point of contact (POC) for all commissioning processes and teams on the ground during the delivery of mission-critical data centre projects. This role is responsible for establishing, managing, and continuously improving the commissioning function within the business, using industry best practices as the framework for excellence (CIBSE Code M Commissioning Management).

How you will do it

  • Act as the commissioning authority and POC for all data centre projects, ensuring alignment across engineering, project management, and site teams.
  • Develop and implement a commissioning department strategy based on CIBSE Code M standards, embedding best practices across the business.
  • Lead commissioning teams on-site, ensuring processes are executed consistently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Oversee commissioning schedules, documentation, and reporting, ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, and operational requirements.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure commissioning deliverables meet project milestones and performance criteria.
  • Train, mentor, and develop internal team members in commissioning management, building a strong and capable department.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reliability, and sustainability in commissioning practices.

What we look for

  • 5–10 years of proven experience in commissioning management for mission-critical data centres.
  • Formal training in CIBSE Code M Commissioning Management (or similar).
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and building services engineering.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications such as:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Project management qualifications such as:
    • PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent certification.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
