JOB TITLE: Direct Support Professional

CLASSIFICATION: Full or Part Time, Non-Exempt

PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT:  Residential, OPWDD 

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:  Residential Manager


POSITION SUMMARY:  As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you get to enhance quality of life for people with developmental disabilities by assisting, instructing, and supporting individuals living in our residences to be as independent as possible. Promote the health, safety and well-being of the individuals while building positive, meaningful relationships. Advocate for individuals in our residences to communicate their wants/needs and integrate them into the community for recreation. Perform various tasks to promote a well-rounded environment by doing light housekeeping, helping individuals plan nutritious meals, and administering medications as needed. Participate in regularly scheduled trainings to enhance skills and knowledge to continue to support the individuals in the best way possible.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education, Training & Experience:
Ability to perform all job functions

Preferred Education, Training & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

Be a positive role model for people with disabilities and other staff

SALARY:
$17-20

 

Starting rate of $17 with the potential to earn up to $20 with successful completion of training and/or applicable location and shift differentials.
